Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.  The annual Thanksgiving dinner was held at Mamaw & Papaw Spring's family homeplace.  The family is growing, growing, growing...babies everywhere!  Some of us "hard core" shoppers made plans and desperately snagged up sale papers for Black Friday.  Drew thinks that Black Friday is an official holiday!  Turner came for his Thanksgiving afternoon hunt, and he's still here!  Wyatt and Drew are up stairs playing as I type.  Later Thanksgiving afternoon, we had supper with Brad's parents.  Afterward, I was one of those CRAZY people who went to WalMart Thanksgiving night to shop the pre-Black Friday sales.  I stood in line for almost 2 hours, but I did save a ton & was able to get almost everything I needed.  Not so sure I'll pull that again next year though...

Brad and Turner took the boys squirrel hunting this afternoon between rains.  They didn't kill anything, but the boys had a blast.  I've been busy working on Christmas decorations.  I usually don't put them up this early, but the bank's Christmas party is at our house this coming weekend.

Below are some pictures from Thanksgiving Day at the Spring's...

Drew's Soccer Season

Drew & the "blue team" had a blast playing soccer this season.  They weren't the best; they weren't the worst.  I do think they had the most fun though!  Here are a few shots from his last game against his cousin Kayla.

Fall Table Setting

I used a mix of fall upholstery fabric (top) & burlap (edges) to sew the table cloth.  The pumpkins were DG finds that I added some fall leaves to.  The center piece was a very old hand carved wooden bowl.  I painted & distressed it, then added some dollar store florals.  The only down side to using the burlap around the edges is that it gets on our clothes when we sit down to eat!  Wish I would have thought that one through.  Anyone know how to wash a table cloth made with burlap???  Hmmm...

Christmas

Here are just a few things I've done for Christmas...
Antique bottles filled with lights

Re-decorated candle (used to be ugly green!), bell/tray set (plan to distress), & refinished thrift store find lantern

Christmas decorations on mantle

Love my wreath....green, glittered Christmas balls will soon be added to it

Pallet Furniture

I've been working VERY hard on making some things out of pallets.  Brad cut them with a chain saw, then I used a chop saw & table saw to finish them out.  Whew!  They are a LOT of work!
Book or magazine rack

Coffee table in teal/brown with jute twine at the top of each leg

Coffee table in deep brown stain - distressed - with jute twine at top of each leg

Art

Here's a few of the art pieces I have worked on.  Art is my weakest craft area, but I'm working on it!

This is from a painting class I took with Rhonda at the Toad House.  She helped me throough some of the tricky shading parts.

Another ToadHouse painting class project...thanking Rhonda with help on the nose!
